Welcome to the Cedar Park / Leander Connect Group!

Posted by Jeremy Apel

Whether you’re single or married, with kids or without, we’d love to connect so we can help you find a community to grow in and a cause to serve.  Join this group to get updates and info about what's happening throughout Cedar Park / Leander.

Find a Community to Grow In

If you’re new to Gateway or just wanting to get connected with others better, checking out a Network is the best place to start!  We’re convinced doing church where you do life is the way to go, and a Network is a group of 30-75 people who gather together regularly to grow spiritually and serve needs in their community.

Take a look at our Cedar Park / Leander Networks to see which one is where you do life, and join that particular group to get involved.  If there doesn’t seem to be one that fits you, let us know.  Maybe you can help us get a Network started in your area.

Serving opportunities: Family, Youth and Elderly.

Just for fun: Walk, Run/Ride and Mountain Biking

November 19th - Operation Christmas Child!

Posted by Jeremy Apel

It’s that time to get together, share some good food, and just do life!

This time, with a mission in mind:  Operation Christmas Child!

6:00 pm, Saturday, November 19th at The O’Brien's

For over 40 years, Samaritan's Purse, a nondenominational Christian organization, has been spreading God's love by providing spiritual and physical aid to so many hurting people all around the world. In 1993, they started a mission called Operation Christmas Child (OCC), delivering special items in shoeboxes to children across the globe. Since then, OCC has given more than 85 million children in 230 different countries shoe boxes filled not only gifts that they usually would not be able to obtain, but also a message of how much God loves them and wants to be a part of their lives. Check out this great video: Operation Christmas Child

So join us for a shoebox packing party at The O’Briens!

Let’s be a part of something great and be the hands and feet of Jesus!

Click on the invitation below to RSVP and for more details on what you’ll need to bring.

Looking forward to seeing what God is going to do through us!

May Serve Event Photos

Posted by Lance Hartland

This past Saturday was our serve day, and we had a good crew out at Naumann Elementary School. We worked on three tasks:

  • We are in the process of painting a Computer Keyboard on the asphalt in the playground area. The kids will be able to learn the alphabet by standing on the letters. We'll finish it during our next Serve Day.
  • We also painting chalkboards in the stairwells which are really lacking color. The teachers will use the boards to write info on with colorful chalk to add color. We'll finish them during our next Serve Day.
  • We helped repair the walking trail that winds around the school property. We focused on shovelling and raking the gravel back into the metal edges of the trails. Once we raked the gravel back onto the trail we leveled and smoothed it.

The link below is the link to our Facebook page - photo album for this event.

Thanks so much for the peeps that came out and helped!!!

CPL Men's Breakfast

Posted by Jeremy Apel

As men we rarely have a place to just share what’s really happening in life without having to guard our words.

On one side we’ve got to say, “All is going fine, thank you.  I’ve got all my stuff together.” (when it’s really not)... and to share areas that are actually going well is a no-go too, for fear of being accused of “blowing your own horn.”

The CPL Men’s Breakfast is a place to change that conversation.

Where we’re headed:

Grow deeper in our relationship with God with the intention of passing that on to others.

How we’re getting there:

No Posing – be you – no more, no less.

Do speak from your story and what’s up for you right now, not “we men sometimes __”

No Fixing – “have you read __” or “I was there before and this is what you need to do”.

Do grab lunch with a guy that shares a similar story and is on the same journey.

We meet every other Wednesday from 7:00am - 8:30am (roll out sooner if you need to).
This month - Sept 21 - Oct - 5,19
We'll be meeting at J&J BBQ - 1431 & 183A (behind the furniture consignment store and across from Wal-Mart)

Look for us on the back patio.

Breakfast Menu and Location (great grub!)

Feel free to pass this on to other CPL men.
Hope to see you there.

Mountain Biking (Beginner to Intermediate Welcome)

Posted by Lance Hartland

A group of Gatewayers and non-gatewayer ride every Tuesday evening at Walnut Creek Park. We have been riding at that time and place for serveral years now, and its a great way for fellowship and to meet new friends.

Time and Place: The time is at 6:30 and the place is Walnut Creek Park, which is a City of Austin park located on Lamar Blvd just south of Parmer Lane.

Experience Level: From never riding before to expert. The pace however will be beginner to intermediate. I will teach newbies on the basics so don't let that keep from trying. We will not leave anyone behind!

Equipment Needed: A bike; water bottle or pack; and helmet. Helmets are required! Please let me know if you don't have all of these. I have extras folks can use.

Ride Length: It depends on who is riding. There are a number of places where people can break off and head back to the parking lot if they feel they had enough.

Meeting Place in Parking Lot: We typically meeting in the first parking lot on your right when you enter the park from the Lamar Blvd entrance. Its located adjacent to some softball fields and across the street from the gravel lot.

Contact Info: My cell number is 512-284-0131, please call me or text me to let me know you are comming. Also call me if you will need to borrow equipment; I will need to know by 10am Tues so I can pack it in my truck before I leave my house.

Thanks,

Lance Hartland
